WHAT'S COMING FOR 2008

Several Members attended the 2006 Events and Festivals Convention.
New item for 2008 is a "Rock Climbing Wall"
A Parade Float was constructed for the 2006 and 2007 Parades. See Parade page for photo links. A new Float is under construction for the 2008 Parade.

Your business can sponsor an Event in 2008. See the Sponsors Application page for details on the new Commercial Display Space option. The "Rock Wall" needs Sponsors.

"PHOTO CONTEST FOR 2008"

Calling all photographers to enter your photos of the activities and events of the 2008 4th of July Celebration. The Commission will judge the best photo or photo collection based on best representation of the celebration and award cash, $50 for 1st, $30 for 2nd, and $20 for 3rd place. Photos will be accepted between 7/5 - 7/25/2008. All photos become the property of the Commission and are eligible for posting on this web site.

"Nominations for Grand Marshals for 2008"


The nominations are closed for 2008. See the Parade Page for Grand Marshal announcement.


"Commission Members Needed"


We welcome Jackie Leone as the newest member of our Commission. We are allowed to have 11 members total. The 4th of July Commission is seeking four additional members at this time. We have a great time and serve the community too. Everyone is encouraged to apply. Come check us out and have some fun with us at our next meeting. Meetings are held at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Call or Email Angie for details.


NO PERSONAL FIREWORKS ALLOWED


For the safety of all attending and due to insurance liability, no sparklers or personal fireworks are allowed on city property including McCurdy Park or Mitchell fields. Police and city officials will be on patrol and will confiscate any dangerous materials.


Please help us keep everyone safe and enjoy the
Professional Fireworks display at dusk.

The 4th of July Commission & Friends of the Corunna Historical Village will host several events in Lansing in 2008. The April Events netted almost $12,000 to be split between the host organizations. See the Poker Page for Details and the Photos from our very first event.

The Commission lost a dear friend and colleague with the passing of Nancy Nickels, October 13, 2005. The Kids Bike Decorating Contest and Parade has been named in her memory
